SDN’s Top-3 Fantasy Tight Ends For The 2022 NFL Season

Number 1: Travis Kelce

Kelce has been one of the NFL's best tight ends for years now. While he finished as the number 2 tight end in fantasy last season, he will almost certainly be seeing plenty more targets in 2022. The Chiefs are facing a pretty big downgrade at the WR position with Juju Smith-Schuster replacing Tyreek Hill, so Kelce should easily be Patrick Mahomes' number 1 target. Kelce has put up over 1,000 receiving yards for 6 straight seasons and is averaging 10 TDs over the past two seasons. He only recorded 250 fantasy points in PPR leagues last season, but we are fully expecting him to put up 300 points this season. While many people do not like taking tight ends in early rounds, Kelce is definitely worth it.

Number 2: Mark Andrews

Mark Andrews had a season to remember last year. He put up 285 fantasy points in PPR leagues last season (17.8 points per game) which was good enough for him to finish as 2021's best tight end. With the loss of Marquise Brown on offense, Andrews should without a doubt be Lamar Jackson's number one target. The Ravens do not have much receiving depth at all with second year receiver Rashod Bateman set to be the Ravens' WR1. While Andrews had a huge jump from 2020 to 2021 (600 yards and 2 tds to be exact), we think his performance in 2022 will be very similar to the one he had last year. Andrews has really only had one great season, so he still has a lot left to prove.

Number 3: George Kittle

Although it may not have seemed like it, Kittle had a pretty decent season in 2021. He put up 198 fantasy points in 14 games (14.1 points per game) and finished as the 4th best tight end behind Dalton Schultz. However, Kittle's 14.1 fantasy points per game was his lowest average since his rookie season in 2017. While many are looking at his 2021 season as the start of his decline, we think this was solely a bad year, especially with Deebo Samuel playing such a huge role for the Niners. With Deebo likely seeing a decrease in his usage, we are expecting to see a big increase in Kittle's. And with Lance officially being named San Francisco's starter, he will primarily turn to Deebo and Kittle for help.
